Orange County deputies arrested a woman on charges of murder, sexual battery and child endangerment after the death of her two-year-old son, according to authorities.
According to a probable cause statement filed in Orange County Superior Court, the baby died Thursday from multiple injuries he suffered in a home in Citrus Heights.
Authorities say the baby was found dead by his mother in the garage of the house in the 4200 block of East Avenue, according the statement.
Citrus Heights Police say the mother told deputies that she was having trouble sleeping when she woke up to find her son in the bed with a pillow over his head.
Deputies say the boy was unresponsive when they arrived.
Deputy Chief Mike Sells told reporters that a search of the home revealed a knife, handcuffs, a handgun, and a mask in the bedroom.
The mother told investigators that the child’s name was “Tiffany” and he was 5 years old.
